  1. The shortest one i can find is 4hrs and 50 minutes long and there are no direct routes.

Wow what i nightmare, i though commuting to London was a pain but that's only 2 trains.

    Here is your shortest journey:

Train from Southport to Wigan Wallgate 0.29 minutes

Walk from Wigan Wallgate to Wigan North Western 11 minutes

Train from Wigan North Western to Birmingham New Street 1 hour 30 minutes

Train from Birmingham New Street to Weston-super-Mare 1 hour 59 minutes

  2. There are no direct trains between Southport and Weston-super-Mare.

This is because when the Government advertised the franchises, this was not considered to be an essential through link.

  3. Unfortunately there are not direct trains from every station in the UK to every other station. Changes are needed in many cases, especially in cross-country trips such as the one you propose. I could not get from where I am in Sussex to Southport without at least three changes and a trip on the London Underground. Trains run for the majority, they do not provide an individually tailored taxi service.

  4. Try calling the railroad.
