Trains... Trains... Help?

Question

My boyfriend and I are going to take a trip from West Virginia to Georgia (Almost Flordia) Does anyone know of any cheap train lines? I allready checked Amtrac... Flying is out of the question, and I can't ride a bus (Greyhound) because I'll have a panic attack...

Hmmm I was going to recommend Greyhound. How about renting a car from like Hertz, Enterprise, Budget or someplace like that. Budjet usually has pretty affordable deals. Although it is a bit of a drive. I speak from experience. My husband and I use to drive from virginia beach to atlanta all the time.

Sometimes travel websites have last minute air fare deals too that you may want to look at. Air tran, Spirit airlines, etc generally have cheap fares. Good luck!

Indeed, Amtrak is the only by-train means of traveling that far.  If you have the means a cheaper way to travel by Amtrak is instead of catching The Cardinal (Amtrak's train through WV), at Charleston or Prince, WV, which must then take you to Washington, D.C. for your trip south consider just driving to D.C. yourself and catching one of Amtrak's scheduled trains heading south to Georgia.

Amtrak is the only passenger train service that can take you that far.  If you don't want to fly or take a bus, why not drive?  It's about a 10-11 hour drive from WV to South GA.

It gotta be amtrak and you will enjoy It (I think)

The cars are nice and clean, lots more room to move around in than in a bus, better view along the way.

You can bring a picnic lunch, find a seat to yourselves and enjoy a nice meal together with a bottle of wine, traveling just doesnt get better.

there is food and beverages available on the train also, it is not bad, and not horribly overpriced.
