  1. you have to buy a ticket and wait on the platform till your train come. there is usually a ticket desk by the door then a computer screen at the platform will tell you how long till your train arrives

  2. the time runs on a 24 hour basis so if it is 5:00 pm

just add 12 and =1700 hrs. If you are going to london and using brit rail not the metro (subway)

contact a travel agent and get a euro-rail pass

you can get it for the length of you stay. but it must

be purchased before you get there.

  3. London travel is divided into zones (1,2,3 etc.). The fares are graded according to the zones. There are 2 rail networks: the Underground and the suburban. At big stations, junctions etc, they connect. Times are in 24 hours which means that for after midday you add 12, thus 1pm becomes 13.00 hours.

At the platform there are digital indicators which tell you when the train is due. Up to 3 trains are shown, as '1st, 2nd 3rd' with destinations and (in the case of Network Rail) calling points.
