    but many mines etc used rail based trucks for some time before this. Many small developments in steam engines before they were "established"

  5. In the mid 18th Century - Matthew Trevithick a Cornish miner attached wheels to a static steam boiler and invented the first steam locomotive, it was used to pull wagons of cornish tin and other minerals.

    Later in the early 18th Century passenger traffic began to appear.
