Tran Duy Khoi clinches Men’s 200m backstroke gold – Vietnam Swimming Championships
Tran Duy Khoi of HCM clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on concluding day of the 2012 Vietnam Swimming Championships at the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, September 16.
The 15-year-old Khoi stifled hopes of his opponents in the distant backstroke discipline as he rushed his way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal of the event.
With his unbelievable efforts, Khoi remained in a lead of four and a half body lengths over his closest competitor and tapped the wall for the title with a timing of 2 minutes and 12.15 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Tran Van Trieu of HPG, who stayed 4.68 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall for silver medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 16.83 seconds.
Similarly, Trieu was chased by Vo Duy Phong of LAN, who remained 1.15 seconds behind and settled on the wall as third best finisher by producing a time of 2 minutes and 17.98 seconds.
Duy was traced by Ta Thanh Long of HNI, who was 0.35 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.33 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth best spot of the event was obtained by Nguyen Ngoc Tr of HPG, who was 0.09 seconds apart and settled on the wall as fifth best finisher by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 18.42 seconds.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Nguyen Can Cuo of QDI, who remained nearly three seconds apart and transpired on the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 21.19 seconds.
Cuo was trailed by Dang Quang Anh of HNI, who remained nearly 3.50 seconds apart and submitted an effort of 2 minutes and 24.66 seconds for seventh place.
Similarly, Anh was followed by Phan Lam Yen of HCM, who was 0.95 seconds slower and reported a time of 2 minutes and 25.61 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, Khoi was pleased with his gold finish in the race and raked medal for his performance after the event.
