Tran Duy Khoi grabs Men’s 400m IM gold – Vietnam Swimming Championships
Tran Duy Khoi of HCM grabbed gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on last day of the 2012 Vietnam Swimming Championships at the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, September 16.
Khoi, who recently captured gold medal of the 200m IM, demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the distant IM discipline. With his unstoppable efforts in the eight-lap IM event, Khoi crushed hopes of his opponents who were eyeing the title of the discipline
as he proved his eligibility for the crown.
He enjoyed a commendable lead over his toughest competitor and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 33.50 seconds.
His title claiming effort was almost 2.50 seconds slower from the record of 4 minutes and 30.05 seconds, made by Vo Thai Nguyen of An Giang in 2011.
The gold medallist was followed by Nguyen Ng Huyn of DNI, who stayed nearly 13 seconds behind and occupied second best spot of the event by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 46.32 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Lam Quang Nhat of HCM, who remained 3.41 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing blockade as third position holder by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 49.73 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Nguyen Van Nha of CTO, who remained 9.09 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by touching the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 58.82 seconds.
Fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Do Van Hieu of LAN, who stayed 0.90 seconds away from upsetting his preceding swimmer and hit the finishing blockade with a timing of 4 minutes and 59.72 seconds.
Hieu was trailed by Nguyen Van Vie of QDI, who stayed 11.16 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end as sixth best finisher by clocking an effort of 5 minutes and 10.88 seconds.
In addition, Khoi expressed happiness after clinching his second gold medal of the evening and articulated that he would try hard to continue the same in upcoming events.
