right i have copied my 8cm 1.4gb dvd-r to my hard drive & want to copy to a main dvd for home viewing, however heres the snag i have 2 X 30 mins discs join but each time i used a disc it used the same file names ie on disc one i have files such as video_ts and the ifo n bup files to keep the frame pattern therefore how can i add both discs to one file for transfer when they are the same names, windows wants to overwrite the last file which isnt any help and i have no idea what to change them to in order to keep the process of frames working correctly ? some examples are

vts_01_0and vts_01_01, vts_01_2 , these files are a mix of bup, ifo and mpeg files so can someone explain the sequence then perhaps i can change the file names on disc 2 to follow on the sequences to keep all in correct playing order ? i can copy the whole list if it helps someone re order pls ? many thanks, hopefully when i read my cam book there maybe a way to avoid this next time when i record before finalizing !

  1. changes to file-mgmt.structure of vcam may possibly result to complications.

there are 3 types of files on DvD disc=>.vob, .ifo & .bup. IFO is an index file containing navigational info, i.e., where a video chapter begins & where audio & subtitle streams exist w/in the video (VOB) file. Only the video.vob file is used for editing - convert if not supported.

Process: upload .vob files to pc/ file-mgmt=>convert* if needed=>edit**=>share

    File Mgmt.:  [prevent overwriting]

    - create a pc movie folder with 2 sub-folders disc1 & disc2

    - upload the 2 miniDvD disc .vob files to proper subfolders

    - rename filenames the way you wish- w/ numbering in front to indicate the proper sequence.

Video editing apps - Ulead VStudio11 & Cyberlink Power Director support .vob files, but if you wish to 'get the feel', try free XP or Vista movie maker.

Unfortunately, .vob is not supported by wmmaker. Convert video.vob files to avi or wmv first before import to editing app.

=>*Try Prism or Kates (free) video converters

    - google, download & open video converter

    - set supported output format/resolution (avi; wmv) & pc movie folder destination

    - add renamed .vob files

    - click convert...converted files are saved to pc movie folder

    video editing process**- XP/wmm2

          >>> open wmm- start/all programs/wmm->TASK pane

    1. Import converted video files w/c are now w/ proper sequencing number

    2. Edit- drag/drop video files ->timeline TO JOIN, then enhance w/effects, transition, music & titles

    3. Finish (render)- save Movie –OK for youTube, also save Project.msmmw file

          >>> Share-burn to DvD, use DvD authoring app, e.g.,DvD Flick, Nero, etc.

    For Vista/wmm6, t’is similar: Import/ Edit/ Publish/ WindowsDVD or Nero for authoring
