Tranquil Sea expected to win McSweeney Arms Hotel Handicap Chase
Tranquil Sea is expected to win the McSweeney Arms Hotel Handicap Chase at Killarney in Ireland on Monday, May 14, 2012. The triumphant horse will be awarded a cash prize of €15,275.
A total of 14 runners have been attracted towards the race and their names are as follows: Tranquil Sea, Campbonnais, Ordinary Man, Original Option, Gala Dancer, Casey Top, Powerstation, Your Busy, Barel Of Laughs, Derinlaur, Jack Absolute, Sebadee, The
Big Boyo and Long Strand.
The going will be good in the 2 mile 6 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 19:50 GMT. The stamina of all runners will definitely be put to a test today, as the overall distance to cover is quite a long one.
Out of the total participants, The Big Boyo might not be able to take part in the race. He was one of the least favourites to win, thus would have attracted a few bets in his favour.
Looking at the experience and overall performances of Tranquil Sea, the bookies have awarded him with pretty decent odds for victory. He is a quality runner, thus the punters are also likely to risk a lot of bets in his favour.
The 10-year-old gelding has participated in 22 chase races, winning eight of them and finishing runner up in three of them. Moreover, he has also managed to take the third spot once, which shows that he is a fierce competitor.
However, the E. J. O'Grady’s trainee was unable to deliver a strong show in his most recent run, as he finished fifth overall. Despite not being the favourite, he was given pretty decent odds and was expected to finish in the top three.
Tranquil Sea will be partnered by seasoned jockey, Barry Geraghty, who has been impressive in chase races, winning 96 of them. His strike rate has been terrific, which helps him attract a lot of bets in his favour.
Other than the race favourite, Your Busy will also be the one to watch out for. He has taken part in 13 chase races, winning just once. His strike rate is quite unimpressive, thus the punters will be discouraged to risk money in his favour.
