The former Bayer Leverkusen man has insisted that he will fight for his place in the team when the new season begins.
Schalke signed Barnetta on a free transfer earlier this summer after the midfielder’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen ran out. The player saw it as a great opportunity as the club will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next
season and signed a three-year deal to stay with the Gelsenkirchen based outfit.
