Disclosure: I don't watch the show.

However, from what I hear Tyra usually has a "hook" to draw people in and this time it's Isis.  For that reason I feel she's being exploited.  And as you said some of the other girls don't treat her well.

On the other hand this is another opportunity to educate the public.  And yet the public seems very resistant so far to our education efforts over the last 5 years.  Just read the comments to newspaper stories on-line.. or even here to questions like this one.

The concept of transsexuality is a difficult one for non-transsexuals to comprehend.  The main problem is they get stuck on what the person APPEARED to be before, not who they truly are.  And they just won't let that go.  It just baffles me that people still don't get it even after I explain it a hundred times.  It's like their brain goes into TILT!!! mode when it hears the word "transsexual".  It's really not difficult people:

Female soul born into a male body

OR a

Male soul born into a female body

I wish people would stop acting so shocked.  After all people have been medically transitioning for more than 60 years now!

Me 2! I think she is so brave and strong to go through such a public experience. I'm thankful Tryra put her on so she could educate the mainstream folk about the Trans gendered community. Isis is breaking new ground and I'm proud of that show for being the first to do so.

i think its ok n i guess tyra might be using it for publicity for her show but she kinda doesnt need to...antm has been running for 11 seasons now...janice did it on jdma...might become a new trend masked as tolerance...
