It has been confirmed by FC Barcelona’s official website that its management have agreed to sign Adriano Sartorio from Sevilla and that the transfer would be made at a fee of around €9.5 million. Along with that amount, the defender will receive an additional €4 million based on his performance for FC Barcelona.
The contract is pending due to the results of a medical report and the signing of the contract will take place as soon as the results are received. Adriano will only ink the contract once he reaches Barcelona as the Palau Blaugrana have reinforced their defence with the skilful Brazilian defender.
FC Barcelona would be a major step for Adriano as Barcelona is only one of the three clubs that has never been downgraded from the La Liga. It is regarded as one of the most successful Spanish football clubs due to their past record. They have won 25 Spanish Cups, 20 La Liga titles, 4 Eva Duarte Cups, 8 Spanish Super Cups and 2 League Cups. Barcelona has also won three UEFA Champions League titles, one FIFA Club World Cup and three UEFA Super Cups.
Adriano Sartorio has actually played six full seasons in the Spanish football league and has showcased exemplary ambidexterity during that time and has proved himself as a winger or a full back along with having the ability to play as a midfielder every now and then.
Adriano actually started his career as a professional footballer in 2002 in his home town of Cortiba. The Brazilian was eventually scouted and signed in 2005 where he inked a four-and-a-half year contract with the Andalusian club.
Adriano is currently playing in a Series A club named Calcio Catania which he had left in 2005 to join A.C Cesena. However, the move did not work and the Brazilian had to go back to Catania in 2008.
He made sixteen appearances and scored only one goal in the 2009/10 season. However, he was surprisingly sent to AS Andria BAT and that was actually on loan, as the team was trying to strengthen the squad. In the Lega Pro club, Adriano made another twelve Lega Pro appearances.
This Brazilian player had a lot of success and played as a major contributor to the team and always caught the viewer’s eye in the matches played by his team. He won a Copa Del Rey title in UEFA Cups, a Spanish Super Cup along with a European Super Cup. As he joined Barcelona, Adriano actually reconciled with his comrades Malian and Dani Alyes.
Pep Guardila, the Blaugrana coach is heading up the team and it is anticipated that under his wing, Adriano will be playing or at least competing to become the left back. This is largely because the Brazilian has a lot of defensive discipline in his skills along with the creativity and pace in his stride. Compared to the Aging Eric Abidal and Maxwell, Adriano is definitely a step ahead from his competition.
Due to Adriano’s ability to fill vacant positions when required, the player can easily play as a left winger. People have gone to say that Adriano can be an alternative to the right back Lionel Messi or Danni Alves if any one of them has an injury or cannot play due to any reason.
With all things said and done, one thing is for sure that a lot of good things are to come if Adriano continues to perform in the field. Experts would be keeping an eye on him as he may just become Barcelona’s next big thing.
