Transfer News: Diego may return to Wolfsburg, Ricardo Carvalho to Chelsea
Highly talented Juventus midfield playmaker Diego has moved one step closer to a return to the Bundesliga. His side have accepted a 16 million Euro bid from Wolfsburg according to media reports.
Juve had been in talks with the German side for a long time for the possible transfer of the Brazilian international. If reports are to be believed an agreement has been reached between the clubs.
Media reports suggests that the deal could be done and dusted by the end of the week, but the player has yet to agree personal terms with the 2009 German Champions. The playmaker is currently earning around 5 million Euros a year in wages and has demanded it to be upped by 10 million Euros and it only remains to be seen if the small town club will agree to his wage demands.
Diego only joined Juventus in 2009 from Werder Bremen for 26 million Euros but has failed to live up to the expectations of the Club and manager.
Meanwhile, another Bundesliga team, FC Schalke are closely monitoring the situation and the Konigsblauen are ready to pounce on the player if the deal somehow falls through.
In some other Transfer news ex-Porto and current Chelsea right-back Ricardo Carvalho is joining Real Madrid as both the clubs have confirmed.
The 32-year old is on the verge of being re-united with his former coach, Jose Mourinho, who was his manager at Porto first and then Chelsea. The deal between the clubs is said to be worth around 8 million Euros.
Media sources in both the countries claim that the talks had been going on for a long time for the transfer of the player and it was only announced yesterday that an agreement has been reached between the clubs subjected to the agreement of player’s personal terms.
The Chelsea website this morning said “Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Ricardo Carvalho. The transfer is subject to a medical and the player agreeing personal terms”.
Ricardo will be Madrid’s fifth signing of the summer after the Club had already secured the services of Angel Di Maria from Porto, Sami Khedira from Stuttgart, Sergio Cannales from Racing Santander and Pedro Leon from Getafe.
Carvalho’s spot in the team is not guaranteed as he will compete with Ezequiel Garay, Raul Albiol and Pepe for his spot in the starting 11 at the Santiago Barnabeau.
Carvalho’s departure from Stamford Bridge is the end of an era as he was the third longest serving player in their current squad as only Frank Lampard and John Terry have been at the club for more years.
The Portuguese international was part of the Abrahamovic revolution and bought from FC Porto in 2004 alongside, Arjen Robben, Tiago, Drogba, Alex, Petr Cech and Paulo Ferriera.
At Stamford Bridge, Carvalho has won three FA Cups, three Premier League titles along with two League Cups and two Community shields.
Meanwhile, in some other transfer scoop, Celtic has said that they will not break their bank for Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy.
Celtic have also said that the player’s wage demands are so high that the Bhoys cannot afford to pay and will end their pursuit if the Northern Ireland international doesn’t decide to take a pay cut in search of first team football.
Bellamy is currently earning 90k per week at City and Celtic has insisted that they cannot pay him anything more than 30k per week.
Previously in his career Bellamy enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Bhoys in 2005 and the current manager Neill Lenneon is very keen to sign the player but only on his own terms.
