Transfer Rumors: July 10, 2010 - Liverpool tell Torres he can’t leave, City want Drogba
Liverpool officials have informed Torres, that they have no intentions of selling the striker and are ready to resist any offers that are put forward by Chelsea and Manchester City. However that isn’t quite where the story ends, as an official statement put forward by the Liverpool officials stated "Torres's future has been one of the key issues after the arrival of new manager Roy Hodgson and the feeling is that to sell him - no matter what the price - would undermine any hope of success in the coming season. Torres's future is balanced against that of Steven Gerrard whom the club would allow to leave if he asked to do so - and providing that Real Madrid made a suitable offer."
The club is also willing to let Gerrard leave after his twelve years of dedication but insist that Torres can not do the same since he had just signed a new five year deal in May. Lastly, Liverpool are willing to let Mascherano leave if the price is right and are looking to bring back Peter Crouch to the squad.
Sunderland have sold their captain, Lorik Cana to, Galatasaray. The rumored fee is set to be around the five and a half million pound mark. Cana released a statement which said, "The people here love their club, they have passion and a proper identity," Cana said. "I gave my all for the club and it will always be in my memory. I have been offered the opportunity to play in European competition and the Champions League, and especially to be closer to my family - this was not an easy decision for me, though, and I hope people understand."
Sunderland are however trying to negotiate a shock move for Sol Campbell. Campbell has already opened talks with the Sunderland managers and could actually end up joining the Black Cats.
Manchester City are lining up a ridiculous twenty million pound bid for Chelsea forward, Didier Drogba. The Ivory Coast captain is currently thirty two years old has not yet ruled out the move. Chelsea are unlikely to ever get a better offer than this for the forward but, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Manchester City have turned down a seventeen million pound offer, for out of favor forward, Robinho. City have accepted that Robinho might never play for them again, but wish to get as much money as they possibly can from his transfer.
Wesley Sneijder has revealed that he doesn’t wish to play for Manchester United and has pledged his commitment to the Italian giants, Inter Milan. He has said, “I have a very good feeling at Inter and I don’t want to let them down after winning everything and losing Jose Mourinho. My goal is to be as successful this year with new coach Rafa Benitez. I’m not surprised by the interest because I’ve been playing well but my intention is to stay at Inter. I want to talk with them about extending my contract.”
