Transfer Rumors: July 13, 2010 - Madrid say Gerrard too old
Fernando Torres may not be able to move out of Anfield due to the groin strain he suffered in the World Cup final game against, Netherlands. The striker was forced to lay on the floor during the final two minutes of the match, due to a groin injury. This injury has dented any hopes the Liverpool player may have had about leaving the club this summer.
Chelsea were rumored to be the most interested club in the Spaniard. It would however take a formal transfer request from Fernando Torres himself before Liverpool can even begin to think of selling their most prized asset. The twenty six year old had struggled throughout Spain’s World Cup campaign and this may have acted against his favor, since other clubs who would have been potentially interested in the player, may take into account how unusually injury prone he is.
Real Madrid who had been rumored to be wanting to capture the Liverpool Skipper, Steven Gerrard this transfer window, have withdrawn their interest from doing so. The club’s board has decided that the thirty year old player is just too old. The offer that Madrid placed was estimated to be around the region of thirty million but the Liverpool management asked them to increase on it. This has thrown off the Madrid officials and they are now looking to find a suitable replacement elsewhere.
Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini has reignited his interest in signing Mario Balotelli. The Inter Milan player who is currently only nineteen years old has attracted interest from clubs all over Europe. Manchester City however are still favorites for landing the Italians signature.
Fabregas is looking more than certain to be staying at Arsenal for another season at least. The Gunners skipper went on to dedicate his gold medal to the Arsenal staff, players and fans right after he lifted the World Cup trophy. Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has repeatedly refused to meet with the Barcelona president to discuss the future of the player.
Manchester City and Edin Dzeko are hoping that, Wolfsburg drop the fifty million pound evaluation of the player so that he may be able to move to the Eastlands. Manchester City are also looking to offer Rouque Santa Cruz as part of the deal as a make shift.
Liverpool have stopped David N’Gog from potentially joining West Brom on a season long deal. The Liverpool management thought it was the appropriate thing to do considering they might not find a replacement striker in time. This realization took a while and considering that they haven’t been doing so well lately it would be a miracle to see any big names join the club any time soon.
Moroccan international, Nabil El Zhar has said he wished to leave Liverpool this summer. The twenty three year old forward came to this conclusion because he said he wished to play more first team football as compared to what he was being offered at Anfield.
