Transfer Rumors: July 23, 2010, City say enough to Villa, Vidic to be lured to stay at United
Manchester City are reported to make a final offer to Aston Villa for James Milner. City are reportedly looking to bid a maximum of twenty four million pounds to sign the player and will not be looking to bid the thirty million that Villa were hoping they would get for the player.
Manchester United aren’t very happy with the idea of letting Nemanja Vidic leave the club just yet. The team is looking to give the Serbian a pay rise in hopes of helping him make up his mind and opt to stay at the club. According to The Times, 'But with Rio Ferdinand enduring an injury ravaged season last term - the England defender is sidelined again with a knee injury - and only Wes Brown offering experienced back-up at centre-half, Ferguson is concerned that losing Vidic would leave United vulnerable defensively'.
'No offers have been received for the player, with neither Real nor AC Milan firming up their interest with a bid, but United accept that continued uncertainty around Vidic could prove a distraction for both the player and the club next season.'
So clearly other clubs have signaled their interest in signing the player but, United don’t even want to consider letting the player go because they know that without Vidic to provide Ferdinand with the cover at the back, their defense would be an utter mess.
Sol Campbell is reported to have extended his stay at Arsenal and have signed a one year contract extension. Arsenal were desperate to hold on to exisitng, and capture new defenders. And the fact that Campbell has decided to stay at the club would only indicate good news for the club. According to the Mirror, 'Sol Campbell is set to sign a new contract with Arsenal once he returns from honeymoon. Veteran Campbell, 35, will snub offers from Celtic, Sunderland and Newcastle to stay with the Gunners.'
'Wenger sees Campbell as ideal cover and experience for Thomas Vermaelen and new £8m signing Laurent Koscielny. But Wenger still wants another centre half, having had a bid knocked back for Everton's Phil Jagielka'.
Javier Mascherano’s frustration at Anfield seems to grow a little more as every day goes by. The player is apparently so frustrated with the club not letting him leave that he is considering handing in a formal transfer request. Inter Milan have been long time admirers of the player and are willing to pay the price to have their man. The Liverpool officials however are being highly un professional and trying to snub Rafa Benitez from singing the player.
Roy Hodgson has identified Klass Jan Huntelaar as the player who could help Liverpool offensively. The manager is considering having the player at Anfield for the coming season on a season long loan deal which could eventually result in the player staying in Liverpool on a permanent basis. It would cost Liverpool around fourteen million to sign the player but they would have the money to go through with the deal as long as they offload Mascherano to Inter Milan and end his misery.
