Transfer Rumors: July 5, 2010 Torres to leave Pool, Spurs confident of J.Cole
Fernando Torres’ future at Liverpool may just be over. The strikers agent has gone on record and said that his client may be moving to another Premier League club. The following was said by the manager, "It is very likely that Fernando Torres will stay in the Premier League, but I cannot say that it will be with Liverpool. We are working on his future but right now you cannot guarantee that he will stay with the English club." He dismissed any further speculation about his client joining Spanish giants Barcelona by saying, "It is ruled out. Barcelona have signed David Villa and now they want to invest the money they have in other players."
Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti has been monitoring Portuguese playmaker, Raul Meireles as a possible replacement for the outgoing Deco. Meireles who had been impressive for Portugal, during the World Cup, by being one of the few players on the team who were actually performing for the national team. Other teams who were looking to land the midfielders signature were, Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid. It appears that Chelsea may beat them all and land their man for a fee estimated to be around fifteen million pounds.
Manchester City plan on spending at least, a hundred and fifty million pounds this summer. Having already spent forty two million pounds to sing, Boateng, Yaya Toure and David Silva, they plan on capturing Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio and James Milner from Aston Villa, within the next few days. However they don’t intend to stop there, they are still pursuing Fernando Torres and Wolfsuburg’s Edin Dzeko. They have also asked about, Balotelli, Edinson Cavani, Vucinic and Karim Benzema.
Watching Diego Forlans amazing run at the World Cup, the top European teams have started sniffing around for him, the striker was quick to respond to this interest and said, "I am very happy in Madrid and I have three years left on my contract with Athletico. I will not go"
Stoke city are hot in pursuit of Joe Ledley. They are offering Cardiff two million pounds and midfielder Michael Tonge. The twenty three year old is also being pursued by West Brom and Celtic.
Tottenham are confident on Joe Cole eventually joining them. Joe Cole has made it clear that he would prefer to stay in London, which means that the only teams that, Cole would be considering now are Arsenal and Tottenham.
Matthew Upson has still not informed West Ham as to what he wants to do in the future. Sunderland have placed a seven million pound offer for the defender, but West Ham cannot proceed with the deal till the defender makes his intentions about his future clear.
Real Madrid veteran, Raul is on the verge of completing a shock move to Schalke. The striker was told he was surplus to the requirements at the club by new manager, Jose Mourinho. It is still unclear as to what the striker will decide, but it will be interesting to see how this transfer deal shapes up
