Transfer Rumors: June 29, 2010 - Henry To Leave Barcelona, Di Maria Joins Madrid
Thierry Henry’s future at Barcelona might be over. Barcelona have confirmed that they have agreed to let the striker go if he fancies a move elsewhere. MLS club NY Red Bulls have been showing interest over the prolific striker for a while now and it is believed that the striker will follow in the path of David Beckham and move to the U.S.
Henry was part of the World Cup squad that was struck by disaster throughout the tournament. The thirty two year old made fifteen appearances for Barcelona the past season, netting only four goals. However the Barcelona management has said, what he chooses to do is his choice and he is more than welcome to stay at the club.
Real Madrid have signed twenty two year old, Di Maria from Benfica. The Argentinean international who is currently playing in the World Cup has agreed to join the Spanish giants, for a fee reported to be around twenty five million euros. Di Maria joined Benfica from Rosario Central in 2007 and went on to help them win the Portuguese league and cup. Di Maria hasn’t shown the same form for his country that he showed for his club all season long. Madrid over looked this fact and still looked to add him to their attacking threat. Di Maria will be playing alongside the likes of Ronaldo and Kaka at the club.
Yaya Toure is on the verge of completing his move to Manchester City. The Ivory Coast midfielder is close to sealing a deal with the Eastlands by the end of the week. The move was expected to go through by the end of the month but his participation in the World Cup slowed down the transfer process. Yaya’s brother Kolou Toure is the current captain of Manchester City and had urged his brother to join them over the past couple of months. His persuasion seems to have worked since Yaya has made up his mind to leave Barcelona.
Tottenhams twenty eight million pound bid for Palermo duo, Simon Kjaer and Edinson Cavani has been accepted after both teams reached an agreement. A host of teams including Manchester United, Manchester City and Inter Milan had been after the duo, but Tottenham beat them to capturing their signature. Harry Redknapp brought the two in to reinforce his squad which is currently preparing to play in the Champions League next season.
Michael Ballack is poised to become the ‘Ultimate Lead Figure’ at Bayer Leverkusen. The German side confirmed the capture of the player from Chelsea last week. Ballack played for Leverkusen fromm 1999 to 2002 and has now returned his former club, who hope to make a challenge for the title the coming season. Ballack who is currently still injured and recovering, never really made the same impact he had when he played for Munich And Leverkusen, he hopes to regain that form and start giving world class performances as soon as possible.
New Inter Milan boss Rafa Benitez, has set his eyes on Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez. Tevez who has been the main goal threat for his club this past season may opt against the move. However nothing can be said for sure since Tevez is currently in South Africa with the Argentinean national team, so the transfer can’t move along till he returns from the tournament.
