Transfer Rumours: August 13th 2010, Ireland thorn in Milner move, Balotelli finally on his way
Stephen Ireland’s wage demands could prove to be a blockade in James Milner’s move to the Eastlands. It is believed that Irelands is entitled to reviving a sum of two million pounds on his departure from the club. He is also refusing to leave the club as a make shift weight to make the Milner deal go through. He has said that he would only leave the team if his transfer was part of a paid move.
However there is some good news for City fans. City are apparently finally on the verge of completing the twenty three million pound signing of Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan.
Balotelli is reported to arrive in the Eastlands within the next forty eight hours or so. He is reported to have been offered a five year deal worth around sixty thousand pounds a week.
According to the players agent, "On Thursday there was a step forwards, I can confirm that," Raiola told Sky Italia. "So I am very confident about closing the deal soon but it doesn't just depend on me."
"I am very optimistic, but the deal is not already done."
Tottenham have been denied by Manchester City in their pursuit to sign Craig Bellamy. The club has ruled out a move for the player to Tottenham and the player is now being linked to teams like Celtic. Other teams that are interested in the player include, Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland.
Another player who isn’t going to be joining Tottenham anytime soon is Ashley Young. Young was one of the primary targets of the club. However Aston Villa who are currently manager-less have killed down any and all transfer rumours regarding the situation. They have even gone as far as to say that the player is on the verge to sign a two year extension to his current contract at the club.
Mark Schwarzer has apparently pleased with Fulham to let him leave the team and join Arsenal. The goal keeper has been a long term target for the club but with Mark Hughes coming in to manage the team, the deal has died down dramatically. Schwarzer was however reported to have said, "I need it to happen. I've had a couple of chats with Mark [Hughes]. It's delicately poised."
"Who wouldn't be keen to go to Arsenal? At this stage in my career it's an amazing opportunity to play at that level and one I really want to take. Only time will tell whether that happens or not." he added.
he also said, "It's taken a long time and the season's very close. On one hand you understand them not wanting to disrupt too many things but I want things resolved as quickly as possible."
Clearly the player is not very happy with his current position and wishes to get his future sorted out as soon as possible. The move could prove to be beneficial to both Schwarzer and Arsenal if it does manage to go through.
Everton’s defender Phil Jagielka has killed down any and all rumours linking him to a move to Arsenal. The player was reported to have said, "There's nothing I can do about the speculation, but the gaffer has pulled me aside and told me I'm not going anywhere, I'm happy with that. I'm an Everton player, I love playing for the club, and I'm just going to get on with my job there."
The player has expressed no intention in wanting to move to Arsenal and with the player having his mind set to staying at Everton it seems very unlikely that the deal will go through.
