Transfer Rumours: August 24th 2010 - Jose denies striker link up
Jose Mourinho has officially silenced and killed all rumours linking him to signing the attacking duo of, Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor. There had been rumours initially stating that the manager was going to make his finally signing of the summer in the form of one of the two African forwards. However Mourinho came forward today slamming those rumours, as being nothing more than a joke played by someone in the Madrid management. He also said that he does not wish to spend any further money on players and feels that his squad is more than capable of winning everything insight this coming season.
After Inter Milan falling behind Barcelona as runner’s up to sign Javier Mascherano, Liverpool stated that the bid price launched by the Spanish club was nowhere near enough of their evaluation of the player.
Barcelona stated that they were willing to pay as much as twelve and a half million pounds plus Alex Hleb and Martin Caceres. However Liverpool still feel that their player is worth at least worth twice as much as that and Roy Hodgson was reported to say, "Unfortunately the fee the club thinks is the correct fee and the fee we are being offered are very far apart. Unless that can be resolved he might be unhappy for a long time to come...
"It will happen, I guess, a day when the offer for him matches our valuation, but until that day he stays with us."

The manager is showing no intention in wanting to let the player leave, which means that unless either, Inter Milan or Barcelona don’t make a ridiculous bid for the player, he won’t be leaving Anfield this summer.
Liverpool are however already weighing up their options to find a replacement for Mascherano. The player that they have is mind is out of favour, Real Madrid holding midfielder, Mahamdou Diarra. According to The Daily Mail, The powerful 29-year-old is one of four players earmarked for sale by Jose Mourinho and Real had slapped a £6m price tag on him. However, it is understood they will now allow him to leave on a free transfer for the right club.'

Another Diarra who could be on his way out of Real Madrid is Lassana Diarra. Diarra has also fallen out of favour at the club and since the arrival of Sami Khedira, the player looks to have taken, a further few steps back in the pecking order. Tottenham are currently the most interested team in the player and Harry Redknapp is stated to have been a long time admirer of the player. According to The Mirror, Diarra has impressed Mourinho during pre-season and it is not a forgone conclusion that he will be allowed to leave. But unless Real Madrid offload some of their other big names then Diarra will be sacrificed.'

There are numerous other teams who are also keen on signing the midfielder, which means that the player is almost certain to leave the team before the transfer window closes.
According to Roque Santa Cruz’s agent, the Manchester City bench warmer might not be at the Eastlands this coming season. According to the agent, "I understand that there have been meetings between Manchester City and Lazio's officials for the transfer of Santa Cruz," explained Jan Van Baal.
"I have been informed about the real interest of Lazio. At this moment I can say that there are 50 per cent possibility that the transfer can be done.
"This proposal is official and according to what I have been informed Lazio would be offering €6million."
The player is more than likely to leave the club. City are in abundance of strikers and with Santa Cruz being injured so often it is more than likely that they would let the player leave to the first team that makes an offer for him.
