Transfer Rumours: August 4th 2010, Diarra to United, Poulsen to replace Mascherano
Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson made it clear on numerous occasions that he has no intention of spending any more money on singing more players this season. However, Ferguson seems to have spotted a player that he feels Manchester United just can’t do without.
The player that he wishes to bring to Old Trafford before the start of the new season is Lassana Diarra. The player has previously played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Portsmouth and is currently employed by Real Madrid.
He is going to be spending most of his time on the benches of the Bernabeu if he decides to stay there due to Khedira joining the Spanish team. Real are currently demanding around nineteen million pounds for the player. United have the money to spend but it is now up to Ferguson as to whether or not he wants to sign the player for the given amount.
Roy Hodgson may soon be given an infinite player shopping kitty but for now he is forced to buy the cheapest players possible. Liverpool is currently holding talks with Danish player, Christian Poulsen. The player, who is currently thirty years old and plays for Copenhagen, will be wanted to come to Anfield to replace Mascherano. He is estimated to be worth around six million pounds and if Liverpool does manage to sell Mascherano, they will have more than enough money to sign the player.
James Milner is reported to have told his Aston Villa team mates that he is on the verge of joining Manchester City. The player has been pursuing a move to the Eastlands ever since the transfer window opened and it seems like he may finally get his dream move. However, it seems that Ireland will be heading to Aston Villa from City with Milner going the other way. The deal is rumoured to have been worth around thirty million pounds, but with Ireland being included in the deal, it might have significantly gone down.
This deal will be the best case scenario for Aston Villa. They would get rid of a player who probably won’t perform at his level best. Whilst inheriting a player who has everything to prove to his former employees. Ireland is also the ideal player to replace Milner. The fact that Aston Villa is getting such a ridiculous amount of money for the deal proves just how greedy Manchester City are. They haven’t really considered the potential that Ireland possesses and are ready to throw huge chunks of cash at the first player they felt they needed to buy.
The saga involving Cesc Fabregas’s move to Barcelona from Arsenal seems to never end. According to The Sun, Fabregas is scheduled to hold talks with Arsene Wenger regarding his future. He plans to do so on Thursday when the Arsenal squad will be participating in a photo shoot. The Spanish World Cup winner was informed that he needed to arrive at the ground at 10 a.m. in order to talk with the manager. It is expected that Arsene Wenger will finally tell Fabregas that he needs to calm down and that there is no way that he will be playing for Barcelona in the coming season. It is shocking to see that a player of Fabregas’s calibre is performing so childishly. It is also amusing to see that Fabregas feels that he will be able to break into Barcelona’s first team. With the likes of Xavi and Iniesta still in the team, the only place Fabregas does have a spot in Barcelona is on the bench. It is however up to the player to decide what would make him happy in the future.
