Transfer Rumours: Emmanuel Adebayor desperate for Tottenham Hotspur move in January
Just into his 2nd season at Manchester City, striker Emmanuel Adebayor is looking to force a move yet again to another North London team: Tottenham Hotspur. Adebayor had previously spent 3 years at Arsenal, archrivals
of the Spurs.
The former Gunners star previously forced a much-publicised move to City. But after just two years, it seems as if he will go to war with the Blues to complete the move to Tottenham even if it is just a loan move.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is on the lookout for quality strikers and he himself will be quite active in the January transfer window. Many of Spurs’ players are believed to be heading towards the exit door, including strikers
Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane. Adebayor will be a great signing if he arrives in January and is bound to strengthen Harry’s squad. Redknapp already signed ex-Arsenal player and caption William Gallas and made him the Spurs captain. If he succeeds in bringing
in another former Arsenal player, it is bound to enrage the Gunners’ faithful.
The 26-year-old striker’s relationship with boss Roberto Mancini has been deteriorating since the pair’s string of bust-ups. But now it seems the Italian has run out of patience with him.
With the ever-growing squad at City, players are unhappy at the lack of first-team action. Players like Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Wayne Bridge are on the top of the hit-list and seem destined to be shown
the exit door in January.
However, it seems unlikely that City will let Adebayor go to any of their title challengers. It happened this summer when the club blocked Craig Bellamy’s move to Tottenham and instead sent the striker on a season-long loan to
Championship club Cardiff City. Liverpool is also believed to be interested in the Togolese International and City might be tempted to sell the striker to them rather than to a team who snatched the Champions League place from them last season.
However, in case Liverpool do not meet their valuation of the player, there is a slight chance that City might be forced to sell the striker to the Spurs as Mancini is so fed up with him that he wants to get rid of the player at
any cost. The Blues boss thinks of him as a troublemaker and Adebayor would use that to his advantage to force a move in January. The striker’s frustration is growing day by day as he is not getting regular games.
Redknapp is a big fan of Adebayor and if he gets his man it will be a dream come true. The 63-year-old is known to bring the best out of his players. Upon his arrival at White Hart Lane, Harry has turned a flop team and average
players into world-class performers. Their recent run in the Champions League is enough proof of that. That is the main reason Adebayor is so keep for a move to the North London club.
