Transfer Update 28th October
Juventus to Bid for Keane in January
Italian giants Juventus have emerged as unlikely candidates to sign 30 year old Tottenham striker Robbie Keane. The Irishman joined the Spurs two years ago after a brief spell at Anfield, but like at Liverpool the striker has not been able to establish himself
in the starting 11.
Keane scored just five goals in the 14 games he started in the Premier League for Tottenham. It is understood that his services are no longer required at White Hart Lane and Harry Redknapp is already in the market for younger replacements.
The 30 year old striker spent last season loaned out to Celtic but returned to England over the summer, determined to win back his place in Redknapp’s squad. He had a good run with the Scottish giants but wants a more permanent position with the Spurs.
Reports suggest that Juventus are preparing a massive bid for the striker in the January transfer window. The Italian side have made an improved start to the season under manager Luigi del Nieri and are currently fifth place in the Serie A.
Celtic Target James Frempong
Scottish giants Celtic are tracking Swedish left wing player James Frempong. According to reports the clubs scouts were at the player’s recent match, which his side Gefle IF won 1-0 against GAIS Goteborg last weekend.
The 21 year old winger said he was flattered by the interest and said he would consider a move later on in his career but for now was focused on playing for his current side. He has an efficiency rating of a goal or assist ever 380.5 minutes.
The youngster told reporters, “I had no idea [the scouts were at the match]. I am taking each game for what it is here. I'm not taking the scouts being here too seriously, although it is exciting they have been here to watch me.”
Blaise Matuidi Wants a Move to England
23 year old Blaise Matuidi, the AS Saint Etienne defensive midfielder has been linked with English Premier League top clubs Arsenal and Liverpool. Juventus, Sevilla and Valencia have also made enquires about the player, but he said he would prefer a move
to England.
He told reporters, “It is nice to know a club like Juventus is following you or asking about you. (But) the league that would suit me best is the Premier League. This is due to tactical, cultural and physical reasons, and the atmosphere in the stadiums.”
