Transfer Window: Schweinsteiger says 'I’ am not married to Bayern

Schweinsteiger who has just had a terrific world cup with Germany has stated that he is open to a change of clubs in the near future.

The young German midfielder, who is currently under contract with Bayern Munich, captained his side in their third-place playoff against Uruguay. Schweinsteiger started his career in the Bayern Munich academy for young players. He was spotted by their scouts at a very young age. After winning the German youth championships in 2002, Schweinsteiger earned his place in the Bayern Munich reserve team.

Schweinsteiger started his career off as a versatile winger, who played a majority of his games on the left wing. However, he was also shifted to the right wing in some games. In his first season with Bayern Munich, Bastian scored just two goals in sixteen games.

In his second season, he had 32 appearances in which he scored four goals. Bastian Schweinsteiger’s most impressive season in terms of goals was the 2008-2009 season, where the midfielder scored nine goals and managed to create 12 goal scoring chances for his team mates. As his career has progressed, the young German midfielder has gradually been molded into a defensive midfielder.

During the 2009-2010 season, Schweinsteiger became a permanent fixture in Bayern Munich’s starting lineup. Under Louis Van Gaal, Schweinsteiger won the German league as well as the DFB Cup with his club side. In the FIFA World Cup of 2010 in South Africa, Germany played a relatively young squad in all of their games. With his compatriots being relatively inexperienced in comparison to him, Schweinsteiger stepped up as the senior member of the squad and took responsibility.

He performed remarkably well against England in the round of sixteen tie. In his new found role in the center of midfield, Schweinsteiger man-marked the English midfield star Frank Lampard out of the game. In the quarter finals, Schweinsteiger was pitted against Messi as Argentina took on Germany. During the match, Bastian Schweinsteiger along with his midfielder partner Sami Khedira, kept Messi caged amongst them.

Germany got knocked out of the tournament after they lost their semi-final match against Spain. Recently, Schweinsteiger has been the target of several big European clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid. Schweinsteiger has come out and said that his main ambition is to win the European cup and to do that he might consider moving onto other clubs.

When asked about all the transfer speculation surrounding him, Bastian said that he is not married to Bayern Munich, thus signaling his intent that the player is not bound to stay at the club forever. He also said that the German league also known as the Bundesliga, is a great league and has become more and more important over the years.

He added that if he was to move onto some other club, then clubs outside Germany excite him. Such comments on Schweinsteiger’s part might provide confidence to other clubs ambitions which are aimed at luring the young German star away from his child hood club.

Bayern Munich’s CEO has already said that no player at the club is for sale especially Schweinsteiger. He said that the club is in a very sound financial situation and thus will not consider selling any of its star players.
