Question:

Transfer at Paris (CDG) from Terminal 2E to 2F?

I will be travelling to Paris on a Shengen visa and flying to Madrid later that day. The booking are done separate. So I will have to claim my checked bags and check in for the flight to Madrid. Does Terminal 2E has its own baggage claim? Do I have to go to another terminal to claim bags? Do I have to go through passport control twice? I mean exiting Terminal 2E and entering Terminal 2F. Please help.

  1. 2E and 2F aren't far apart, but you come in and claim bags on a different level then check in.  My experience with CDG check-in has been less than stellar and I speak French well.  I've flown in and out of CDG at least 10 times in the past few years.  You need to allow several hours.  It may not take that long, but I'd personally be very stressed with less than 3-4 hours layover.

  2. Did you try CDG's website?  There should be a map of the terminals and other passenger info there.  You could also check QuickAid.com, which has links to airports all over the world.

  3. Terminals 2E and 2F are connected by a walkway.

Information on transfers can be found at the Charles de Gaulle Airport website. Follow this link:

Since you have to reclaim your bags, you will probably have to clear Customs and Immigration, take your bags to the second airline, stand in line to check in, stand in line to clear passport control, and stand in line to clear security. Hopefully, you left a lot of time between flights. Booking both connections on one ticket would have eliminated the need for this.
