Transfer case leaking? might be over filled?

i just replaced my transfer case. yesturday. i filled it thru the fill plug with a hose and a pump. the hose i used happened to be the same diameter as fill plug so even after it was full past the fill plug it didnt leak fluid because hose was blocking the way. i put about three qts in it, and when i pulled the hose out tranny fluid leaked out and before it leaked all the way i put the plug in. i didn't think it would hurt nything to be too full, plus i didnt want a huge mess. but this morning i noticed it was leaking, i havn't been under there again but it looks to be goming from the front pinion. would that leak if it was too full. or do i have a seal that s broken some where i need to replace? should i wait to see if it stops leaking and if it does it was just too full? or should i not risk running that transfer case dry and having to replace ti again?

  1. It could be very well because it's over full.Take the fill plug back out and let it drain to the proper level. Then see if the leak quits. If not the pinion seal is probably bad.
