I am moving to a house 3 blocks away from where i am, and i called to get my phone connected over there and they said they are charging me $200 for the phone and broadband to be connected, is that right? there is no number change or anything just different house, last time they all took 3 months to connect my phone, which was a breech of the contract i signed, they were supposed to do it in 48hours, so because of this if i decided to leave them because of the transfer fee can i leave and say they broke the contract, and get away without paying big dollars for disconecting the contract??

  1. What I would do is find out what other providers serve the area have them connect your phone before your current provider puts it on the "hot list".  Call customer service and cancel that order and talk to them about the breach of contract etc.  Don't tell them your switching carriers.  You should probably do this before calling another company.

What I did, was after they hooked up my services, I found a place over the Internet that actually saved me 50% off my phone bills.  If you would like that information email me and I'll be happy to pass the info along to you.  Don't let phone companies rip you off.  What's happening to you sounds like a big rip off and the FCC probably wouldn't be happy about it.
