Question:

Transfer files from laptop to desktop?

I have a video file of 5gbs size in my laptop that I want to transfer into my desktop. I have tried my different external hard drives to save it and transfer it into my desktop. However, each time I try to drag and drop or copy and paste the file to my hard drive, an error message pops up saying that the file is too big to transfer. So I wonder if there is any way I can "cut" the file in half to transfer it or is there any other way for me to transfer the file besides directly hooking up my laptop with my desktop?

  1. Buy an 8Gb or 16Gb thumb drive from $45 to $60

This will always be available for file transfers whenever you want

And will save a lot of fiddling around in future

  2. Yes there are ways to "cut files" However you would probably be better off just transfering it to an external drive that is big enough to fit the file if you cant get ahold of one. Then download a program called winzip and then compress the file until it can fit on the harddrive.
