Transfer help?

I am going to attend a UC in the fall, however its far from home and I am not sure if I made the right choice. I am thinking I should transfer to a private college near my home, however the UC is on a quarter system and the college I want to go to is on a semester system. Will this cause a lot of problems if I want to transfer in spring? or will it be better to transfer to a cal state? Any help will be appreciated

  1. It may be a little difficult because college's that have quarter semesters often do not transfer credits smoothly because they are not equivalent. Also, it shouldnt matter when you transfer as long as your not in two schools at the same time. You will most likely finish the fall classes at the first school in time for the spring classes at your new school.

I would start by checking out how your credits transfer. If the majority transfer fine, then it wouldn't be so bad... on the other hand, if they do not transfer, it is as if you wasted all that time at the first college. Time and Money! Some schools offer this online, but you probably want to speak with an advisor or the Registrars Office to make sure that they will accurately transferred.

Check the amount of financial aid you will be recieving? Is it worth it? Does one school give you more grants, sch, etc. than the other? How much are you paying for credit hour should be compared. Housing is also expensive if you plan to live on campus? Or will you commute, which may end up costing much also because of gas.

Lastly does this school offer your program. What is the success rate for your program at this school.

I transferred and did a lot of research and chose a school that offered a tuition plan that stayed in lock for four years. So my tution won't go up for me. They offered me transfer grants and students do not pay housing for their first year if they transfer.
