I have a samsung scl810 hi-8 8mm digital camcorder the manual sugests that it is possible to transfer from tape to dvd. I have a dvd burner in my computer, the camcorder manual says something about a software cd that should have come with the camcorder, I never got one? Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this and how good the results should be?

  1. Don't worry about the software that came in the box - it probably is not supported in current operating systems.

The Samsung site is a pain - and I could not find an SCL810 - but I found the SCL805 and it was basically no help...

With the AV cable (they same one you use to connect the camcorder directly to a TV), connect the camcorder (instead) to an "analog/digital bridge" like

or if your camputer has a firewire/IEEE1394a port,

    http://canopus.com/products/videoconvers...

Once converted and on your computer, Microsoft MovieMaker (Windows) or Apple iMovieHD (Macintosh) are already in your computer (unless you removed them).
