Question:

Transfer to English University from US?

I currently study in the US, but I'd like to transfer to a school in England. (I am going into sophomore year) I know of UCAS, but I'd like to know if it's possible to transfer mid-year for Spring 2009? And how would I do that? The choices in UCAS are only 2008 cycle and 2009 cycle.. which one would I register for? Basically, how can I get started? (And it's obviously too late for fall of 2008.. or is it?)

  1. If you want to transfer, I don't think you want UCAS at all. You need to speak directly to the university you want to transfer into. Be aware that not all English universities will accept transfer students at all - Oxford or Cambridge, for instance, will tell you you have to start again. A university with modular courses may be more suitable, and might even take you mid-year.

It may not be too late for this coming autumn if you're going to transfer into the second year. I would go onto the university websites and email someone at the department you are interested in rather than admissions.
