Ok so I was wondering, if you want to move across the country, let's say from CA to FL, is there a way that you can get your car there without you driving it? Like if you want to take a plane there, are there like companies that will take your car for you to another state for you, like in a trailer or something? or if you dont want to drive to the other state you would just have to sell it instead? any experiences? Suggestions? Also if there are, do you have any company names or prices?? Please help...i think that's what I might have to do, but I dont want to get rid of my car, It's a 2009 Toyota Corolla that I just got about 3 months ago and I'm making payments on it.

  1. Try these places

Call them up and pick one.

    Good Luck...

  2. It's definitely possible to do, but it's expensive, especially with gas prices going up. I moved from CA to Virginia a few years ago, and I had my car shipped out. I'm now moving back to CA and was looking at rates again, and it's between $1,000-1,300 for my 98 Accord. I found one site I used to get a bunch of quotes, you'll get quite a few of them quickly. Just search for "auto transport" or something similar.

The companies vary in a few ways. Some of them keep your car on one truck from the time it gets loaded in say, CA, until it's unloaded in FL. Others will load it, unload somewhere else, then put it back on a truck with other cars headed to the same destination. It's up to you whether you want to take the chance of something happening to it by being handled and moved more often. Make sure you check the type of insurance the carrier has, too, and you might want to call your car insurance company to see how you're covered during a move like that. Also make sure you look up the company with the BBB to check that they don't have a ton of complaints against them.

    Good luck!

Open trailer is just that , the car is on a open trailer out in the weather and could be subject to weather and or road debris hitting it.. A enclosed trailer means its inside a trailer covered up like being in a garage out of the weather.

  4. www.AutoTransportDirect.com

They worked for me I moved from Washington to Indiana ... not to bad on prices either Especially with gas the way it is.

  5. Yes, there are several options. You can have your car trucked to FL, if you're moving there the moves cn put it in their truck (it'll cost!) or you can go to a 'driveaway' company.

Look up driveaway on google. These are companies that find drivers to drive your car for you. They advertise for drivers, for someone who, in your case, wants to go from LA to FL. They check out the drivers and usually ask for a deposit. The driver usually pays for the gas and is required to get the car there in so many days, from LA to FL maybe 10 days. They're covered by your insurance and you're responsible for repairs on the road.

They're usually a pretty good deal for the driver as well as the car owner.
