Question:

Transferring Cable box to a new city.?

I'm moving out of the parent's house (40 miles away). My current room has a Comcast cable box ($5 month extra for the box). If the house I'm moving into has cable hook-up (that hasn't been shut off), will I get all the same programming as I did in the parent's house? Also, will I be charged for cable at the new house and their house?

  1. Is the new location Comcast, Call them to see if you can transfer service if they serve the new location. Usually they can.

Hooking up to a "live" connection that is NOT registered to you is theft of service, and yes they can tell, and yes they do prosecute.

You have to pay for cable service and if you have cable on at two locations, you have to pay for two services.  That is the way its setup.

  2. the box is leased from the cable company. Technically, taking the box to a new location is theft.

Besides, the channels may be mapped different in a different city anyway.
