Transferring UK Student visa from old passport to new passport ?

I am currently holding UK student visa on my old passport and due to exhaustion of pages i have obtained a new passport and my old passport is cancelled which contains UK student visa. So do i need to transfer my UK residence to new passport before travelling to UK.

Although your old passport has been cancelled,the visa is still valid.Just staple the old passport to the new one and you are all set.The old passport will bear a stamp which would indicate that a new passport has been issued.The number of the new passport would be mentioned therein.Also the new passport will have a notation that it is issued in lieu of the old passport whose number would be mentioned.Good Luck.
