Transferring phone numbers/text messages Verizon Phone. ?

Question

Okay so i know that there is special number to dial to transfer all of your phone calls onto a different phone. Is there anyway you can do that with text messages? For example my dad left his phone home one day and told me dial this number followed by my mom's phone number and then try to call his phone, and it went straight to my mom's phone. Can you do it for texts so that if someone texts you, you can recieve the text on a different phone?

why would you save a txt? send it to someone elses phone,

then when you get your new one, send it back to that number. and WHA-LA!

they can do it for you at the Verizon store!
