Question:

Transferring to SUNY New Paltz. Any Advice?

I'm planning to transfer to SUNY New Paltz in Fall 'o9. I've done alot of research on the transfer process, the only thing that worries me is whether or not I will recieve on-campus housing. I've read that it can be difficult for transfers to recieve on-campus housing, but does anyone know someone who has transferred to New Paltz and recieved on-campus housing? If so, any words of advice from that person that can better my chances of recieving on-campus housing as a trasfer student. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. =)

  1. I attend SUNY New Paltz, and I have several friends who live on-campus who have transferred from another school.  I dont believe it is that difficult to obtain housing, but you may be put into a triple room, since enrollment is increasing.  However, there is a lot of off-campus housing that is very short walking distance from classes, and some houses are even closer than some of the dorms!  Also, a 5-10 minute walk from campus there are single-person apartments available for $800 a month.

Basically, it's completely up to you where you want to live.  I met a lot of wonderful people in the dorms, and also had to put up with a lot of sh*t too.  Personal preference, I suppose.
