Transferring to all boys boarding school

Hi, I'm transferring to an all boys boarding school (it was my decision, not being forced to go) this year for my junior year. The school is in western north carolina and is relatively small with about 250 students. I visited the campus and met the headmaster and they all seemed nice and all but, it was during the summer so I didnt get to see many students, and see what life is like there. So, I was wondering... Have you ever attended an all boys boarding school? Or transfered later into one? What is daily life like? Just wanted to hear general experiences, likes/dislikes, etc. Any and all info would help. Thanks.

  1. I've had no experience at any boarding school, except college but I can say that I've liked my public schools over my private schools...Good luck and make the right choice...whatever that may be.

  2. I went to a co-ed boarding school, but when it comes to dining, boarding, and sports it was all-boys. I've never been a particular fan of single s*x schools, but if that's what you what to do then good for you. If you've already seen the campus and met with the headmaster then you've probably got a feel for what the atmosphere of the campus is. Each boarding school is very different from the next so it would be almost impossible to guess what daily life is like.

However, there are certain things that are true at all boarding schools. For example, the daily schedules are relatively strict. You must be to breakfast at a certain time and to bed at a certain time. The degree of strictness varies of course, but at most boarding schools you will go to sleep much earlier than you normally do. As for the personalities/characters of the guys that go there, they will probably be the same as at your old school. If you don't know already, it would be good to research its student body. I'm guessing that your going to Christ School since its the only all-boys boarding school in North Carolina, where only 13% of its students are international. This is below the national average of 15%. This is always a good indicator of what type of students go there. So basically these statistics tell me that Christ School is a school full of kids with very American personalities, so they'll be the same as the kids you used to go to school with. Organization in boarding school is the key to success. If you stay organized and on top of things, the academics will be a breeze. Have a look at the Boarding School Review's article on Christ School and read what their students are saying about the school: http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/scho...
