Transferring videos from camcorder to computer using USB?

I have a JVC camcorder (Model No. GR-DVL720U). It came with a USB cord, as well as software to connect it to my PC. But, even though I successfully installed the software, I don't know how to transfer videos from the camera to the computer. The instruction booklet explains how to transfer still images, but I have an ordinary digital camera for that. I want to upload actual moving videos. Can anyone help me? and I can not go buy a firewire thing so please dont say that! i need to work with what i have!

thanks!

  1. Well in order to do what you want to do. You NEED TO BUY THE FIREWIRE THING!! USB is for transferring still pictures & setting up your camcorder to stream video as a webcam. So you can't work with what you have. See all the resolved answers!! You need a firewire cable & possibly firewire hardware for your PC. Check with your PC support as to the proper firewire hardware you need. Good luck!!

  2. I think the USB is just for webcam.  Also you can buy a dvd recorder and transfer that way.

  3. Sorry, but you've answered your own question - you need firewire.
