Transfers Rumours; Suarez United Bound, Almunia to Athletico Madrid and Man City to sign Milner within ten days
Uruguayan sensational striker, Luis Suarez, is reportedly off to Manchester United, for a reported 35 Million pounds. Ajax wants a hefty 35 Million for the striker, which has become a hot asset for many Europeans clubs.
Suarez made an instant impact on the world, when he played for Uruguay in the World Cup. He scored 3 goals in the tournament, including two goals in the Round of 16 against the South Koreans. He stunned the world with his second goal against the Koreans, which was absolutely remarkable. He however, was criticized for pushing the ball on the goal line against Ghana in the quarter finals. He was sent off, and Ghana was in turn awarded a penalty. Ghana however failed to convert, much to the delight of Suarez. In his season at Ajax, Suarez has scored 49 times in 48 games, making him the highest scorer in the league. He had a 25 million price tag on him before the World Cup, but Ajax has decided to up the bid to 35 Million after his impressive run in South Africa. Suarez has named only Barcelona and Manchester United for his likely switch, with United being the most likely to sign him. Barcelona has already signed hot shot David Villa and would perhaps need his services later on in his career.
In other news, Manchester City is hoping to sign England international James Milner within the next ten days, and expect him to play in the pre season friendlies in the USA. Milner was awarded as the PFA young player of the year for his impressive season at Aston Villa last year. Milner would be hoping to sort out the deal sooner than later, as Aston Villa has already rejected a 20 Million deal for the midfielder. Both Aston Villa and City are reportedly negotiating the funds for transfer, with City perhaps adding additional 5 million to seal the deal. Milner was impressive in his World Cup campaign, although his team couldn’t stick well with each other and crashed out in the Round of 16, at the hands of the mighty Germans. Aston Villa however wants 30 Million for the English, but would accept either Stephan Ireland or Nuedum Onuoha as a make weight plus 15 million. Whatever may well be the case Milner is looking forward to become a citizen, and would want to play in the pre season friendlies to make some team chemistry with his new club.
City is to pay 90,000 pounds a week for Milner if he joins the club on a 5 year deal. Milner played a key role in Aston Villa’s campaign last season, where they finished sixth, above heavy weights Liverpool.
Arsenal Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is expected to go back home to his native country, after having a troubled season the premier league. He has been anything but impressive for his club with many fumbles to his name. He has cost Arsenal game too many times for coach Arsene Wenger’s liking is already looking for replacements. Arsenal second team keeper has also been disappointing. Goal keeping issues are of major concern to Arsenal, who has lost many matches owing to below average goal keepers. Athletico Madrid is most likely to rid Arsenal of its miseries, and swoop for the shot stopper this summer.
Arsenal is most likely to sign Mark Schwarzer from Fulham, who would make Almunia’s time in the premier league even more difficult. Arsenal is likely to unveil the new keeper within the week, which would pave way for Athletico Madrid to talk with the North London club. They would get the Spanish keeper for a low transfer fee, as Almunia would not be needed at the English Club. The Europa league champions are in financial trouble this season, and would be hoping to sign the shot stopper for a low price. Fabianski is also for sale, with Wenger hoping to buy a new second choice keeper for the coming season.
