Transformers: Dark of the Moon breaks into top 3, still behind Dirt 3 and Zumba Fitness in the UK
While Video Game and Hollywood tie-ins may not end up making the best games, or in fact the best movies, they are good at making one thing: money. Transformers: Dark of the Moon has broken into the top three best selling games in the United Kingdom for the past week, overtaking Rockstar’s L.A. Noire in the process.
With the movie grossing around the $47-million mark, the game has been trying to keep up as best it can, though Activision will probably just be pleased with any money they make off the game. Especially seeing how the video game adaptations of block buster films do not always end up being anything worth remembering.
However, still at the top of the charts – to everyone’s surprise – is Zumba fitness. Developed by 505 the fitness themed work out seems to be the must have title for fitness conscious Nintendo Wii owners as it continues to top the charts for yet another week.
The game seems to running on the wave of the Zumba fitness regimes that have become a trend in the ‘fitness’ circle.
One game that is breaking the theme and doing well for itself on the charts, without owing its success to the real world, in a manner of speaking, is Dirt 3. Developed by Codemasters, Dirt 3 has been in the top half of the charts for quite some time as the rally/racing game continues to impress gamers with its intense driving and awe inspiring visuals.
Things are not looking too good for Warner Brother Studios and their demon daughter Alma, as F.E.A.R. 3, or F3AR, has been dropping down the charts since a promising start following its release. Hailed for its fantastic and engaging multiplayer, the game seems to have suffered from the criticism on its single player experience. The game now sits at the 9th spot in the charts and only seems destined to drop lower in the coming weeks.
It would not be the United Kingdom without a football title on the charts and even after more than 7months since its release, EA Sports’ FIFA 11 is still in a healthy position on the charts. The latest iteration in the best selling football series is sitting comfortably at 11th raking in the last few pounds and Euros before the release of FIFA 12.
Sony’s InFamous 2 has continued its steady decline as well as it just two spots away from being bottom of the top 20, though for it still to be on the charts is commendable enough.
One can only wonder, if the ‘people’ ‘playing’ Zumba fitness can be considered ‘gamers’. That is a question Bettor.com wants the reader to answer.
