Matt Tieger, the game’s director, explains why the latest game will tell the story about Cybertron, with interwoven storylines instead of just one of the warring factions.
It is best to clear one thing up at this point to avoid any kind of confusion later on and that is the fact that Transformers: Fall of Cybertron has no relation to Michael Bay’s Transformers movies. In fact, the game is influenced heavily by G1 and is the
direct sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron.
The game’s developer, High Moon, announced the latest game with a trailer that really hit home. Making splendid use of Puscifer’s track ‘The River’ Fall of Cybertron became the talk of the gaming community, albeit for a little while only.
War for Cybertron was a surprising hit and the studio, High Moon, has a knack for surprising audiences with their games; the Bourne Conspiracy being another game that the staff here at www.dbuz.com enjoyed.
Explaining how the game would work in terms of storyline and plot, Tieger explained that the concept of having two separate campaigns, such as in the first game, would be scrapped in favour of one campaign with storyline’s criss-crossing each other.
“Fall of Cybertron is not two separate campaigns: there is one campaign and that is interwoven between the sides...”
He went on to state how the move would, in fact, allow the game to be paced better and it would also make it easier to sort out the issues and complaints that fans had with the first title.
“...as a result our ability to pace, our ability to ramp up difficulty, the original design would actually put us in a situation where couldn’t have particularly good pacing and forced us into a repetitive game, and so we broke up that mould.”
He summed it for everyone when he said, “Another way I frame it up is that the last game was an Autobot Story and a Decepticon story, this is a Cybertron story.”
All in all, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron looks like a game everyone should be keeping an eye on as at this point it sounds like its shaping up to be a decent game.
