Transit visa for Spain?

I am helping my best friend in this thing. Her boyfriend is an Egyptian guy and he wants to come to Guatemala (Central America) to marry her.

He would like to travel via Spain to Guatemala..... is it necessary that he has a transit visa for Spain even if he is not going out of the airport in Madrid while he is going to board the other plane to Guatemala?

Please Spanish people I would appreciate your help, these 2 friends of mine are so in love that we are helping them to investigate.

The easy way to find out is to  use the site below.   Just enter his nationality, transit point and destination and click for the information.  You will see that it says a transit visa is not needed.
