Transition from Cricket to Politics has been smooth says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Jayasuriya-c2567 – Cricket News Update
Sri Lanka’s former cricket great, Sanath Jayasuriya, has said that his shift from the sport, to taking up politics, has been a smooth transition for him, complements to his fans, which made the change an easy task for the batting legend of the country.
Jayasuriya recently joined Sri Lanka’s United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) after bidding farewell to his international cricket commitment with the side, making his last appearance for the team in a One Day International match, earlier this year, during
Sri Lanka’s tour of England.
However, the batting star will retain his place under the domestic circle, having already served for Lankan domestic outfit, Ruhuna, during the recent Champions League Twenty20 (T20) tournament in India.
As for his career change, Jayasuriya comprehended that there was not much of a difference between the two fields, since both require the backing of one’s fans and followers, and in his case, the 42-year-old, said that he was fortunate for having such support.
“There's not much difference for me between cricket and politics because the same public are involved,” said Jayasuriya.
“They love cricket and they love me. I’m enjoying helping my constituents with developing roads and creating jobs. I promise small things I can deliver... people are tired of politicians who promise too much and fail,” he added.
As for Jayasuriya’s upcoming cricket commitment, the hard-hitting maestro, who once starred in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s World Cup victory in 1996, will be featuring for the Woodworm All Stars team, which is set to make its appearance on the Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament,
which kicks off today.
The Lankan will also be joined in by Pakistan’s hard hitting batter http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Piyush-c82317 Chawla, and New Zealand’s
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lou-Vincent-c73143.
The Woodworm All Stars have been placed on the competition’s Pool A, alongside Sri Lanka, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756.
