Question:

Transition glasses or sunglasses?

I need to get prescription sunglasses for the beach this year- it's my first year wearing glasses. To anyone who wears glasses, should I buy transition glasses- or just prescription glasses? I already own a pair of regular glasses that I can bring a long, but would that be too much to handle?

Thanks!

  1. I would pick sunglasses.  Transitions don't get very dark while driving.  There ok for being outside but suck when you get in a car.  You have to be in direct sunlight for them to work.  Also sunglasses would probably be cheaper.  I have worn glasses all my life and I have rx sunglasses rather than transitions.

  2. I personally have contacts, and I think it's a lot easier!

You can pick ANY sunglasses you like.  I mean, any that are in your price range, but there are a lot of good ones out there.

And they can go over your contacts, without worrying about breaking your expensive presciption lenses.

  3. well this is the second year that i've had prescription glasses. if you just want transition glasses for the beach, i suggest that you just get regular glasses. but it is too much to handle if you wear both glasses and sunglasses. for me, i don't really need sunglasses because I don't really spend much time outside since it's pretty hot but i can still see without my glasses. but if your going to use them year-round, then you should get transition glasses.

  4. sunglasses for sure

  5. Polarized lenses ROCK. Especially around water. Transitions just are not a substitute for sunglasses, they are amenat to be a comfort lense for your clear pair. I have it all three ways and prefer the polarized ones. I have polarized Grey C with Crizal Sun. Crizal Sun has an AR coating on the back surface which keeps you from having back reflections, and a super scratch coating that keeps ehtme from scratching easy. It also has a 2 year warranty against scratching. Changing glasses can be a pain, but glair is more of a pain, I think! Only polarized lenses can cut true glare! Ask your opticin about it and see if they can show you the difference!
