I changed my fluid and added 9 quarts when I had the engine running and open the plug it pours out. I left about 1.5 quarts drain out already. Should I let more out. I know this means I have enough but do I have too much in it? I don't want to ruin anything. Advance auto parts had me by 13 quarts if 7.5 is too much how can that be? I wish they just put dipsticks on grand am's

  1. Is this a manual or auto trans? From the volume it must be a automatic. these are difficult to fill as most stays in the torque converter and the only way to completely change is to flush, which is messy without the right equipment. Best to have done at a quick lube place.

  2. Year and engine?

Just offhand, I'd say Advance sold you enough to fill it with an empty Torque Converter.
