can anyone tell me where i can find the transmission filter on a chevy blazer as it is clogged and i need to change it? i think it is under the trans pan but i am not sure where the trans pan is, would that be under the skid plate at the front of the car and is the filter distinguishable to other ones there?

  1. the transmission pan is right behind the oil pan for the engine and yes, the filter is inside the pan.

  2. When you remove the pan, it's right there. It's a big metal flat mesh thing. Just from the question, this is not something you should do. There's a lot to it. You need to change all the trans fluid too, and that requires a powered system to do correctly. Just draining the fluid is too much to manage for most do it your selfers. Who told you it's clogged anyway? Probably not someone who would actually know is my guess.

  3. Usually the transmission filter is located right next to the transmission pan. To find it, look under neith the car and look for the transmission, the transmission will be coming off the back of hte engine and will have the driveshaft coming off of it. When you locate the transmission look under it for a pan. It is usualy flat on the bottom and square. Usually next to it in the front you will see a filter. Make sure that it is the transmission filter and not the oil filter. To make sure it's the right one. Make sure that the filter is conected to the transmission and u will have the right one. When you go to put the new one in, make sure that you fill it almost all the way full of transmission fluid so that u don't get a lot of air in the transmission.

    Hope this helps!
