Transmission fluid in antifreeze reservoir?

I own a 2002 dodge neon that has transmission fluid running out of my overflow resevoir for my antifreeze. What could cause this to happen and how can you fix it?

It's probably not transmission fluid.  Some antifreeze is pink.  Is your car running hot?

the transmission cooler located in the radiator you will either have to replace the radiator and flush the system or install a large auxillary cooler which will by-pass the one in the radiator.Either way you will need to flush the cooling system and may need to replace the hoses as well because trans fluid will cause them to become soft and rupture.

well if  you arre sure its tranny fluid i would say you need a new radiator .theres a crack in it which seperates the coolant and the tranny fluid.there is two lines. one goes in and one comes out .these cycle the tranny fluid to keep the fluid cool

Happened to me. The cooler for the transmission is part of the radiator. If the transmission cooler leaks into the radiator the fluid will be pink/milky.

You need a new radiator and and transmission flush/filter. And while you are at it, look at the hoses, thermostat, belt and water pump. The cost of parts is usually low compared to labor.

Just do it all at once.

DONT drive the car until you get this fixed. Water in the transmission will ruin it. Transmission fluid in the radiator won't do any harm though.

if your for certain it is transmission fluid don't drive it or it will fubar your transmission. it would haft to be your radiator leaking the fluid into your coolant so you will haft to replace your radiator, transmission fluid and transmission fluid filter good luck !   :P

if your radiator is busted internally it will cause this to happen because your transmission fluid is cooled by the radiator. if you look at the radiator you will notice two or four lines on either side of it . two lines only indicate trans cooler only while four lines indicate oil cooler as well.
