Transmission problem?

driving vehicle saw smoke then drove to my moms house popped the hood saw trani fluid coming out of the top of the transmission fill cap. pulled the stick out and trani fluid started spraying out.....wtf? lol I don't know if you guys can help me out i'd appreciate it.

when i bought the truck the guy towed it on a car dolly and didn't start the truck, put it in nneutralor take the ddrive-shaftoff. i ddon'tknow if that has anything to do with it. fluid is still pink and not burnt and the trani still shifts good.

It is probably fine. The cap may have just been loose for some reason. Opening that up while the engine was hot was probably not the best idea. But just in case I would take it back to that guy and have him do a once over
