Transparent images in PSP X?

Question

I got a picture tube and when I put it on a raster layer, save it, then place it on a colored background; the picture tube is on a white background. How do I make the white background be transparent? I only want the tube showing, not a background.

Do all that again but this time when you go to File - Save as click on the 'Save as type' and change it to png file (Portable Network Graphics) instead of jpeg and then you will have just the tube and no background.
