I knows it's the wrong time of year to be transplanting, but had to. Can I save it? I'm watering a lot, but don't know what else to do? If I cut those branches off, it will look horrible. Also...how much water is too much? I love this tree, please help me save it!

  1. the plant will come back, it's in a shock stage, water it normally.

  2. You might want to add some compost to the soil - don't dig; just lay the compost on top.  That will keep the moisture in the soil longer as you water PLUS add some nutrients that may help it come back.

Do keep watering though - that's a good thing.

One thing you may want to think about though is how it was planted - does the soil have lots of clay? Could there be air pockets near the roots?

I lost an expensive dogwood recently and I think it was due to the above issues.  I feel your pain!

    barb, also in Michigan.

  3. only cut some of the branches off, only water the weeping cherry until the ground around it is soft but not to soft that the dirt it like a milkshake. . . . . . . . . . . . hope this helped !!!! peace out

  4. Don't overwater! And don't prune until after the roots start growing.
