Transplanting my plant?

when i am going to transplant why do i need to remove some of the leaves from leafy plants

  1. I suppose it might help the plants deal with the shock of transplanting by reducing the leaf area that will lose water; by the time the leaves regrow, the roots will have got back up to speed in acquiring water.  This is what you might call an educated guess, which sounds better than talking out the back of my neck..

  2. It isn't necessary to remove any leaves unless they are dead.  Just make sure when you transplant you use a pot no more than 1-2 inches bigger than the pot in which its currently planted.
